Who we are
SoPHE Young Engineers Network (YEN) support and connects young engineers and early-career professionals in the building services industry. Through networking opportunities, technical events, site visits and professional development activities, we help members expand their knowledge, share experiences and build valuable industry connections. Our aim is to inspire the next generation of engineers and support their growth and success throughout their careers.
As part of the wider SoPHE and CIBSE networks, we connect young engineers with a broader community of building services professionals, creating opportunities to collaborate, learn and contribute to the future of the industry.

2026 Events
SoPHE YEN CPD takeover
We were delighted an evening of presentations from three of this year's outstanding award recipients Saskia Verkaik, Harry Robbiati and Klaudia Rudzionek, as they share their experiences and the impact these opportunities have had on their professional development.
The event featured presentations from Saskia and Harry, the winner and runner up of the SoPHE Plumbing Centre of Excellence Annual Plumbing Competition and their trip to Ghana in collaboration with Village by Village. They will reflect on their visit, the projects they supported, and the valuable insights gained from working alongside local communities.
We also heard from the SoPHE YEN member Klaudia who was awarded the 2025 CIBSE Ken Dale Bursary. She will share highlights from her bursary experience, discuss what she learnt during her travels to Italy, South Africa, Hong Kong and Uzbekistan.
Thank you to Grundfos for sponsoring the event and making it the great evening it was.

SoPHE YEN Graduate Networking Event
A huge thank you to our sponsors, Rinnai UK and Europe, Mixergy Ltd and Adveco Ltd. for their support.
These events wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors or the young engineers who come along and get involved.

SoPHE YEN KGN Pillinger Site Visit
SoPHE YEN had an amazing opportunity to visit KGN Pillinger, a leading UK manufacturer of booster sets, pressurisation units and associated systems for commercial and industrial buildings.
It was a fantastic opportunity to meet the team behind the scenes, tour the factory in Merstham, and see live demonstrations and presentations of their products.
A huge thank you to KGN Pillinger for welcoming us and helping us provide such a valuable experience for the SoPHE YEN community.

SoPHE YEN Annual Plumbing Competition
In June SoPHE hosted our 2026 Annual Plumbing Competition at South Bank Colleges London South Bank Technical College Nine Elms Campus.
The competition provides an platform for YEN and learners to showcase their technical talent, problem-solving ability and communication skills, with SoPHE YEN and college learners were paired up to compete with and against each other, and put through their paces through a series of tasks including problem-solving, hand skills and fault-finding on plumbing installations.
The Plumbing Centre of Excellence aims to help plumbing students and YEN put their skills into practice, solve real-world problems, and gain valuable experience while bridging the gap between domestic and commercial plumbing.
